Former Deputy Minister’s Son Fined RM40,000 For Fake Document

luKUALA LUMPUR, July 26- A son of former Housing and Local Government deputy minister Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin (photo) was fined RM40,000 by the Sessions Court here today for using a fake document relating to a road construction project in Batu Pahat, Johor.

Mohd Nizam Lajim, 31, was imposed the amount by Judge Ahmad Zamzani Mohd Zain after changing his plea to guilty for using as an attachment, a fake document dated July 25, 2012 containing a list of proposed companies endorsed by Rural and Regional Development minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal to build roads at Mukim 6 Linau and Mukim 7, Tg Semberong, Batu Pahat, Johor.

The companies listed on the document were Moral Bahagia Sdn Bhd, Prestasi Reka Sdn Bhd, Satria Mara Sdn Bhd, Sanjung Sempurna Sdn Bhd, Pertama Makmur Sdn Bhd, Mansashi Sdn Bhd, H & A Construction Sdn Bhd, Nisa Consolidated Sdn Bhd, Bina-Mas Construction Sdn Bhd and Landscape Sdn Bhd.

Mohd Nizam who was represented by counsel Datuk K. Kumaraendran and Dev Kumaraendran, committed the offence at Berjaya Starbucks Coffee, The Mall in Jalan Putra here at 3.40 pm on Aug 8, 2012. He settled the fine.

Deputy public prosecutor Afifah Yusof from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission represented the prosecution.
