JULY 31- Oscar-winning musician A.R.Rahman is preparing a big treat for his Indian fans. The singer-composer announced his multicity musical tour, Rahmanishq, at a Mumbai five-star hotel on July 29.
The tour will see Rahman embark on a month-long road trip in October performing at concerts in several cities.
“It is going to be a great experience of music, production, joy, fun and love,” Rahman said.
Rahman will visit four cities- Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. This will be the first of its kind road trip that he undertakes in India.
Before his series of concerts in India, Rahman will first perform in Sydney on August 24. The tour in India kicks off on October 1 at Kolkata. His next stop is Vishakhapatnam on October 12.
The Jaipur concert is on October 20 and the tour ends with the Ahmedabad concert on October 27. “I always wanted to visit cities that are unusual.
We never think of Ahmedabad or Vizag, hence the whole idea was to visit fans there that have supported me all through,” Rahman said at the event.
Commenting on the new crop of musicians who are getting several hits at the box office, he said: “If someone performs well then I get very happy. I don’t see anyone as competition.
These days the level of evolvement has gone high, the more the merrier.” Sale of tickets for the concerts in India are expected to begin around August 15.
