It seems boxing icon Vijender Singh’s acting career is far from taking off as Govinda’s daughter Narmada who was reportedly his co-star in ‘Manchali’ has refused to act in the duo’s debut film because of inordinate delays and unwanted changes in the script.
“No,” answered Govinda when journalists asked him whether Narmada is working with Vijender in Manchali.” First Vijender was busy with his marriage, then some changes were made in the script which Narmada did not like. She doesn’t want to do the film now,” said the actor who was at Gohana in Haryana for an event organised by an NGO. According to Govinda, the director of the film Lovely Singh, who had previously directed ‘Kya Love Story Hai’, has also decided to drop the idea of directing the film.
Refusing to comment on the Olympic medallist’s drug case, Govinda went on to talk about how carefully Narmada is choosing her films. “Narmada is working in select films because she is very conscious about her career,” he said.
It is worth mentioning here that earlier Govinda was quite excited about the project since it was Narmada’s debut film. He had even promised Lovely to do the smallest of role since it was the question of his “daughter’s career”. “This is the question of a daughter’s career. I’m willing to play even a small role,” Govinda was quoted as saying in March this year.
There were also rumours of Govinda’s friend and superstar Salman Khan doing a cameo in ‘Manchali’. Narmada, who had waited for long to get a launch pad, was also energised about the film before it faced a number of inordinate delays, one of which was Vijender’s alleged involvement in a drug case.
An upset Vijender had shifted from Sports Authority of India at Sonepat to Patiala after he was caught in the drug controversy.
When Mail Today contacted Vijender, who recently returned to the national camp at National Institute of Sports in Patiala, to resume training ahead of the trials for the world championship, the Olympian refused to comment on his Bollywood dreams.
