PUTRAJAYA, Aug 1 – China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at his office here.
At the almost hour-long meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral, regional and international matters of mutual interest.
Earlier, Wang Yi held talks with Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman at Wisma Putra here.
Wang Yi is in Malaysia with a six-member delegation, his maiden visit to the country since assuming the post of foreign minister in March.
The visit reflects China’s continued interest in its relations with Malaysia, which have trade and economic cooperation as the major aspects.
At a time when Malaysia and China are preparing to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2014, Wang Yi’s visit reflects the commitment of the Chinese government to adopt a broader approach in its relations with Malaysia, in particular, and the region, in general.
