SINGAPORE, Aug 6- Firefly sees a tremendous increase in demand for air travel during the Hari Raya festive period with Penang, Kota Baharu and Singapore considered as hot seat destinations.

Tammy Chew, Director of Sales and Marketing, Emerging View Services Pte Ltd (the airline marketing representative for Firefly), said: “Demand for travel on these routes increases tremendously during the Hari Raya festive period where Muslims and non-Muslims alike will travel to reunite with their loved ones or take the opportunity of the long break to travel domestically.”

Historically, she said, ticket sales during the Hari Raya season have been high in demand, and this year is no exception.

“Based on our advance sales figures, we can see that most of the flights on the key festive dates are averaging 65 to 70 per cent full.

“Nowadays, travellers tend to opt for air travel rather than driving because air travel is a lot faster, safer and more comfortable. It is a more convenient way of travelling compared to driving especially during the fasting month.

Chew noted that air travellers today have an abundant choice of airline, from premium full-service offerings to low-cost no-frills alternatives.

She said Firefly’s sservice sits mid-way in the spectrum, offering full-service airline features such as free baggage allowance and complimentary in-flight refreshments while maintaining cost effectiveness as per a low-cost, no-frills airline.

“These offerings have proven very appealing to a wide cross-section of the air traveller market which includes the executive business traveller as well as the discerning cost-conscious leisure traveller,” Chew added.

Operating from Subang, home to a modern and convenient city airport in Kuala Lumpur, it is the perfect touch point for travellers, offering Firefly a valuable opportunity to expand its operations further and facilitate travel that focuses on ease and convenience.

Currently Firefly flies six times daily to/from Singapore and Subang, twice daily to/from Ipoh and once daily to/from Kuantan.
