Road Closure In Putrajaya For Merdeka Eve Celebration

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 – Several main roads in Putrajaya will be closed in stages starting tomorrow in conjunction with the Merdeka Eve celebration and the 2013 International Fireworks Competition.

Putrajaya police chief, ACP Abdul Razak Abdul Majid, in a statement Thursday, said the road closure would involve Jambatan Gemilang heading to the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Jalan Presint 5 to the Maritime centre, Jalan Presint 5 to Jambatan Gemilang, Jalan Presint 5 heading to Apartment P6 and Persiaran Selatan heading to Cyberjaya.

HariMerdeka55Persiaran Selatan heading to Pinggiran Putra, Jalan Tun Hussein to Jabatan Peguam Negara, Lebuh Saujana heading to Dataran Gemilang, Jalan Perpaduan to Dataran Gemilang, Lebuh Sentosa to Lebuh Saujana, Persiaran Barat to Jambatan Seri Saujana, Lebuh Sentosa heading to Jambatan Seri Saujana, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak to Jalan Perpaduan, Persiaran Perdana to Dataran Gemilang and Jalan Tun Hussein (Lebuh Setia) to Jabatan Peguam Negara will also be affected.

Visitors from Bangi, Kajang, Bandar Baru Bangi and Sg. Merab are advised to use Jalan Presint 14 (Gate 1) through the Presint 1 parking lot, and those from the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP), Shah Alam, Puchong, Petaling Jaya, Damansara through Gate 3, using the Presint 2 parking lot and Presint 7.

From the Mex and Elite highways, it is advisable to go through Jalan Persiaran Barat (Gate 4) using the Presint 3 parking lot, while those from PLUS, Kajang, Serdang, Cheras and Semenyih through Persiaran Utara (Gate 2A) and Persiaran Persekutuan (Gate 2) using the Presint 4 parking lot, and those from Sepang, Dengkil and Salak Tinggi should go through Persiaran Selatan, using the Presint 5 parking lot.

Throughout the event, visitors can park their vehicles at Dataran Putra, Parking area B13 JPM (Presint 1), Laman 1 Malaysia, Menara PJH, MOF (Presint 2), POJ public parking, Sultan Mizan Mosque, JPN (Presint 3), Jalan Perpaduan open area, Jabatan Peguam, Lingkaran Gemilang 2 (Presint 4), Taman Ampangan, PICC, Water Sports Complex (Presint 5) and Putrajaya Sentral – Presint 7.

The organisers will also provide free shuttle bus services from Putrajaya Sentral to Dataran Gemilang and Dataran Putra to Dataran Gemilang.

The Merdeka Eve celebration will be held tomorrow night (Aug 30) while the International Fireworks Competition takes place from Aug 30 to Oct 2.
