KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29- The royal Museum here is organising various activities for its visitors in conjunction with the 57th Merdeka Day celebration beginning this Saturday.
National Museums Department Director-General Datuk Ibrahim Ismail said the activities would be available for visitors from 10 am to 5 am for three days from this Saturday.
He said they included providing an opportunity for visitors to tour the place grounds on horse back and to take pictures with the palace guards who would be clad in traditional Malay costumes at a reasonable price.
“This is to bring back the glorious years beginning from the era of the Malay rulers prior to the colonial years,” he said after launching the “Semarak Muzium Kibar Jalur Gemilang” programme here Thursday.
He said there would also be performances, including of parade by the palace guards and horseback archery using the traditional bow and arrow.
About 500 people, including museum staff, school and college students were involved in the “Semarak Kibar Jalur Gemilang ” programme which was filled with various activities, including poetry recital and singing of patriotic songs.
At the event, Ibrahim also flagged-of participants of the “Jalur Gemilang” convoy, comprising museum staff on 10 high-powered motorcycles and six cars who went on a one kilometre ride around the National Museum.
