IPOH, Sept 6 – Eleven Umno branches in the Batu Gajah division have yet to know the date of their delegates’ meeting which has to be held by Sept 15, said Perak Umno liaison committee secretary Datuk Mohd Khusairi Mohd Abdul Talib.
He said the meeting procedure stipulated that the date had to be determined by the division after consultation with the branch.
“This problem will be discussed at the state Umno liaison committee meeting tomorrow night (Friday),” he said when contacted yesterday.
He said the committee also received complaints from Umno branches on notice of meeting, missing delegate names and interference from divisions.
Until Aug 31, 1,211 of 1,689 Umno branches in Perak have held delegates meeting and no untoward incidents were reported.
“The meetings have enough quorum even when certain branches held it during the fasting month of Ramadan,” he said.
The branch delegates meetings, which started on July 15, will end on Sept 15 while the division delegates meetings will be held simultaneously on Oct 19.
