SEREMBAN, Sept 18- Umno members should evaluate their leaders intelligently, while the upcoming party elections will be the most suitable time to choose leaders who can continue the party’s struggle in looking after the people and nation’s interests.
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan who said this, also suggested that the leaders chosen should have a high fighting spirit and be willing to make sacrifices for society and the nation without expecting any reward or post.
“Judge wisely who they want to be the party leaders. If they want leaders who can add value to the party’s struggle, choose among the most suitable to be leaders,” he told reporters, here, Tuesday.
Mohamad who will contesting for an Umno Supreme Council seat in the party elections this October, said: “What is important is not the post but the role we can play in continuing the party’s struggle.”
He said if members were only thinking of the post they were vying for and not the role they could and should play, then it would be difficult for the party. “If we really want to struggle for the party’s continuity, we can do it even at the branch level and not necessarily as a division head. We should indeed be able to play a role for the party at any level.
“Therefore, those who intend or are eager to contest for a post, should think carefully. The post is not important but our role as a leader in the party,” he said.
