New Delhi, November 6- Apple Inc.’s flagship smartphone, iPhone 5s, ran out of stocks within 24 hours of launch in India. The top smartphone was launched on November 1, just ahead of Diwali.
Some retail chains have asked for a fresh stock amid unprecedented demand for the Apple’s flagship phone. Tough, cheaper iPhone 5c are still available in the market.
All three colour variants of iPhone 5s went on sale at a price of RM 2750 for 16GB, RM 3214 for 32GB and RM 3677 for 64GB. Considering its high prices and launch of Google’s Nexus 5 at the same time at a much lower price (RM 1492), it wasn’t expected to generate huge demand in emerging market like India. But, the device has clearly exceeded the expectations.
Apart from retail chains like PlanetM, UniverCell MobileStore and Future Group, mobile operators–Airtel and Reliance Communications are also selling iPhone 5s and 5c.
According to media reports, fresh stocks are expected to be available from Wednesday.
