Kuala Lumpur, Nov 20 – Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek will be the first minister to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to clarify the K-Pop issue on Thursday.
The Communication and Multimedia Minister said his presence would be to give clarification on the K-Pop issue which was raised in the 2012 Auditor-General’s Report.
“I have offered my presence to the PAC to give an explanation. I am prepared to explain to them on the K-Pop issue raised in the Auditor-General’s Report,” Shabery Cheek, who was former Youth and Sports Minister, told Bernama here, Wednesday.
It is learnt that Ahmad Shabery is the first minister offering to give an explanation to the PAC on the issue. The PAC which convenes tomorrow would call the Youth and Sports Ministry to clarify the issue raised in the Auditor-General’s Report. The PAC would sit at 10.30am.
He was responding to the call by opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate him over the expenditure on the National Youth Day celebration last year.
According to the 2012 Auditor-General’s Report, the Youth and Sports Ministry had spent RM2.94 million on the event, including the payment for K-Pop artistes from South Korea for their performance.
