Tee Yong To Contest MCA Vice-President’s Post

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 7- MCA Youth Professional Bureau chief Datuk Chua Tee Yong  announced he would be contesting for the vice-president’s post in the party’s election on Dec 21.

The son of MCA president Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek also announced that his team comprising MCA central committee members, including Datuk Lee Chee Leong and 13 division heads, would go for the post of vice-president and central committee.

Tee Yong who said Lee would also be contesting for vice-president, however, declined to comment further on which group they would support for the party president and deputy president’s posts.

Apart from Chua and Lee, Gurun state assemblyman who is also Gurun MCA division chief, Dr Leong Yong Kong also confirmed that he would contest the two vice-president posts open for contest while another two vice-president posts will be appointed by the MCA Central Committee.

Also present at the press conference here today were Lee as well as Gelang Patah MCA division chief Datuk Teoh Siew Hock, deputy MCA Youth chief Datuk Mah Hang Soon, organising secretary Datuk Tan Chin Meng, Alor Gajah Member of Parliament Datuk Koh Nai Kwong and Melaka MCA chairman Datuk Gan Tian Loo.

They will be contesting for posts in the central committee.

Tee Yong who is the leader of the team said the team would only contest for two vice-presidents and 13 central committee posts.

At a separate media conference, Batu MCA Youth chief Datuk Goh Gaik Meng announced he would be contesting for the Youth chief.

Goh is expected to face MCA Youth Education Bureau chief Choong Sin Woon who had earlier announced his intention to contest the post.
