NEW DELHI, Feb 13 – India and Japan to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector through cooperation in various field such as human resource
development.
India and Japan are important tourism markets to each other. Japan is one of the top ten tourist generating markets for India as for inbound tourism is concerned, India’s Tourism Ministry announced.
Both countries also explored the possibility of signing an agreement at the meeting between the visiting Japanese Senior Vice-Minister of Tourism, Hiroshi Kajiyama and India’s Tourism Minister K.Chiranjeevi. Other areas identified for working together and explore new opportunities in tourism sector is exchange of tour operators, investment in the tourism sector and exchange of information related to tourism sector A total of 193,525 Japanese tourist visited India last year, up from 168,019 in 2010.
There is a strong interest of Japanese Tourists in places connected with Buddhism in India. Japanese tourists also enjoy the Visa on Arrival facility.
