Washington, Jan 18- Apple iPhones have reportedly reached an ownership of 42 per cent of all smartphone owners in the US, pushing down Samsung, a new data for Q4 2013 has revealed.
Q4 2013 figures from the Connected Home Report from The NPD Group indicated that while iPhone hold a share of 42 per cent, Samsung is at 26 per cent.
According to Tech Crunch, Apple had a 35 per cent ownership share for the same quarter a year ago, and Samsung had 22 per cent for the same period.
The data pointed that smartphone penetration in the US continued to rise, as around 60 per cent of mobile phone users are using smartphones, compared to 52 per cent a year ago.
The only other OEM to see growth in market share was LG, while Motorola, HTC and BlackBerry declined in their share.
NPD found that as growth in smartphone ownership has had a direct impact on data usage rising, one of the “key drivers” of that has been streaming music services, the report added.
