Kuala Lumpur, Jan 20- An international economic consultancy body has confirmed that one of its two advisers who were killed in Friday’s suicide attack at a restaurant in Kabul, Afghanistan, was Gnanathurai Nagarajah, Malaysian national.
London, Delhi and Nairobi-based Adam Smith International managing director, William Morrison, said Gnanathurai, a Budget Policy and Reform Advisor, was one of the project’s most senior advisors and he was helping to reform the national budget process for Afghanistan.
“Anyone who worked with Gnana (Gnanathurai) and was exposed to his razor-sharp mind, deep experience, and kind-heartedness immediately liked and respected him.
“Gnana, a Malaysian nationality, received his doctorate in economics for his study on governments’ ability to rein in expenditure over the medium and long-term,” he said in a statement which was posted on the firm’s website, http://www.adamsmithinternational.com/.
The other victim, who was also working as an adviser for the firm, was Dharmender Phangurha Singh. However, his nationality was not specified in the statement.
