The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) said the TIV recorded an all-time high of 655,793 units in 2013, up 4.5 per cent, against 627,753 units recorded in 2012, outperforming MAA’s forecast of 640,000 units.

Besides, Lukman said Proton’s B-segment ‘Global Small Car’ expected to be launched in the first half of the year, would be another factor that would drive sales.

“We are optimistic of better numbers (sales) this year amid the launch of ‘Global Small Car’, positive TIV performance, good economy and new models and variant launches,” he told reporters after the launch of Satria Neo Standard 4AT and Inspira Super Premium held in conjunction with the company’s three day sales carnival.

Proton targetted more than 700 bookings during the duration of the fair due to unique selling propositions such as safety, performance and handling.
