Marchesa

New Dehli, Jan 27- Delhi’s fashionistas were in stylishly high spirits as New York based luxury fashion label Marchesa was launched in collaboration with lounge and bar ‘The Blue Bar’, which also celebrated its fifth anniversary, at Taj Palace on Friday.

The evening was a pleasant mix of flowing champagne and cascading dresses, as models sashayed down the ramp marked with delicate French garden archways. Ballgown dresses from the a/w 2013 collection were on display with intricate lacework, floral embroidery and yards of rich fabric being the highlights of the collection. Sexy and feminine, the dresses were well-suited for formal occasions and red- carpet sightings.

Model- turned- actress Lisa Haydon was showstopper for the label, and she looked gorgeous and sophisticated in a strapless black ball-gown with ornate gold embroidery on the waist. With her hair tied back in a low knot and strappy heels to complete the look, she cut an elegant picture in the bespoke creation.

Talking to Mail Today, Lisa said: “The entire Marchesa collection is absolutely stunning with beautiful details that give them an ethereal touch. I have always liked their designs and nearly bought some for my wedding.

My favourite is the white off-shoulder gown with exquisite black lace. It’s a very chic monochrome piece and lace detailing makes it perfect.” Marchesa has been brought to India by multi- brand concept store Kitsch, owned by entrepreneur and socialite sisters, Priya and Charu Sachdev. Famous for its craftsmanship and whimsical details, the luxury fashion brand- a favourite with Hollywood stars for red carpet events such as Blake Lively, Nicole Richie, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristen Stewart, Anne Hathaway and Eva Longoria among others.

Priya, COO and creative director of Kitsch, said, ” We are so happy to bring the brand to our beautiful Indian women as the brand perfectly reflects their beauty- I think it’s in our DNA to be glamorous.” In fact, the brand already has an Indian connection, as its spring/ summer 2013 collection took inspiration from Bollywood with dresses in brocade and gold embroidery given a sexy, modern twist.
