Putrajaya, Jan 30 – MIC vice president Datuk M. Saravanan will meet Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib to discuss the development of the proposed ‘Torana Gate’ project in Little India, Brickfields.
Sarawanan said the proposed construction of the ‘Torana Gate’ in Little India, Brickfields, had been put on hold since it was launched in 2010.
He said the latest development involving the proposed ‘Torana Gate’ was among matters discussed in his meeting with Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia, T.S.Tirumurti, at his office in Putrajaya, Wednesday.
Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh when launching Little India during his visit to Malaysia in 2010 had offered the offered the Torana Gate as a gift to symbolise the friendship between both countries.
The Torana is a gateway seen in Hindu and Buddhist architecture in various parts of India.
Saravanan who is also the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports said apart from the ‘Torana Gate’, he had discussed the exchange programme of Malaysian youths of all races with India and education prospects offered by India.
