Kuala Lumpur, Feb 25 – Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud could become another Mahathir, if he is appointed as a governor, PKR strategist Rafizi Ramli alleged today.
Rafizi accompanied by PKR’s Batu Lintang assembly person See Chee How submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister’s Office, urging that Najib should at least suspend temporarily of Taib’s appointment, until the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) clears corruption allegations against Taib and his family.
“Najib is already facing troubles from Mahathir. He doesn’t want another Mahathir to maintain his presence in government events and speaking out about the administration of Najib” Rafizi further said.
Taib, a veteran politician from Sarawak has been a long time chief minister of the state for 33 years. He resigned from his post recently and has been nominated to be appointed as the governor of the state.
