BEAUFORT, Feb 14 – Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman shot down claims by opposition parties here that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had failed to spur Sabah’s progress or allocate funds to the state.
He pointed to the substantial federal government allocation of RM23.2 billion for the state’s development, via the 10th Malaysia Plan, including RM7 billion last year for education, health and various development projects.
“This is testimony to the BN’s commitment to ensure that the people in Sabah, including residents here, would also enjoy progress in line with the country’s development,” he said, in conjunction with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s visit here today.
At the gathering attended by about 20,000 people from all walks of life, Musa said it was pertinent to reject the opposition and choose the BN government to allow the latter to continue the nation’s development agenda. On the Beaufort parliamentary seat currently held by Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, who in July resigned from all his posts in Umno, he said the former party divisional chief had represented the people for 28 years and it was time for him to step down.
He said, people in the state, including Beaufort, would wisely favour BN candidates in the next general election to fight for their interests.
