FMT (2)PETALING JAYA, April 9 –  Free Malaysia Today (FMT) has launched its mobile app to enhance readers’ experience when receiving their daily doses of news, opinions and videos.

The new app will allow readers to have full access to the news portal anywhere and at anytime. It will publish content from all of FMT’s portals, including FMT home edition and FMT Borneo Plus. Readers can also access FMT’s YouTube channel.

The app, created by FMT tech partner Selliyal Sdn Bhd, is available for iPhone and Android smart phones as well as tablets. It can be downloaded from http://fmt.mnewsapps.com/ and also from Apple App Store and Google Play.

Readers will be able to customise push notifications through the app.

It is available for free until May 1, after which there will be a charge of US$1.99 (RM6.40) for six months or US$2.99 (RM9.60) for a year.

“We have launched this mobile app to allow our readers better access to our site,” said FMT Editor-in-Chief K Kabilan. “They can now read the latest from wherever they are.

“We are still a free site, but we are charging a fee for the app to help us continue providing news and opinions that are free and independent. The rates are reasonable, and we hope our readers will give us their support.”

Selliyal Managing Editor R Mutharasan said: “We are proud to be associated with Free Malaysia Today.

“We’ve built the app to incorporate all of FMT’s contents and present them to the user in a simple and intuitive interface. We believe this will allow more users on the move to access FMT.”
