NEW DELHI, Aug 21- India’s IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Delhi with 147 passengers and six crew members reportedly caught fire upon landing, but no one was injured.
The airline in a statement said IndiGo flight 6E-176 from Mumbai to Delhi with 147 passengers and six crew members made a normal landing this afternoon at the Delhi airport.The aircraft touched down in Delhi on runway 27 at 1535pm local time.
“As soon as the Captain got the information about the dense smoke from the Air Traffic Controller tower, he immediately ordered the crew to evacuate all passengers in the interest of passengers and crew’s safety. The evacuation was done on taxi way after safely landing the aircraft,” said the statement.
All the passengers were evacuated by all the right hand side slide-chute and one left hand side slide chute in approximately 75 seconds.The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safe and have been taken to the terminal building.
Some of the passengers who suffered minor injuries during evacuation were given medical attention and taken care of by the airport team as well as five members of the Family Assistance and Care team members and they have all left for their homes already.
Further investigations are underway.”Safety of all its passengers and crew is of utmost importance to IndiGo and there is absolutely no compromise on safety,” it said.
