Nirvana ready to receive remains of 5 non-muslim MH17 crash victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22- Nirvana (NV) Multi Asia, the company assigned to manage the remains of the five non-Muslim victims of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 tragedy, scheduled to arrive tomorrow, has made thorough preparations to perform the task.

Its group managing director, Datuk David Kong said they had begun the work to receive the remains a few days ago.”Twenty Nirvana staff will be directly involved in the prayer session, while 50 others will be ready if needed for assistance,” he told Bernama at his office in Wisma Nirvana, Sungai Besi, here, today.

He said they had also prepared a special room to accommodate about 300 people along with an LCD screen on the second floor of the premises for the convenience of family members and next of kin of the victims to witness theceremony tomorrow.

Kong said the funeral arrangements for the victims of the MH17 tragedy were the most challenging task for him since he got involved in the management of
funerals. He also advised the media to be careful when carrying out their duty at Wisma Nirvana tomorrow to protect the feelings and sensitivities of the family
members involved.

Meanwhile, at the Nirvana Memorial Park, Shah Alam, it was observed that all the preparations for the reception ceremony and the cremation and burial
arrangements were running smoothly.

Its Services and Operations Division manager, Lum Hui Yee said the rehearsal for the reception ceremony was held yesterday and today.Flight MH17 crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 while enroute from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board.

The Boeing 777-200 aircraft is believed to have been shot down over the troubled country.Besides Malaysians, nationals from the Netherlands, Australia, Indonesia,the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, the Philippines, Canada and New Zealand were among the 298 people on board.

To honour those who perished in the tragedy, the government has declared tomorrow as ‘Day of National Mourning’.
