August 29 – Apple on Thursday sent out media event for an event on September where it is likely to unveil the new iPhone and a smartwatch. The media invite that carries a cryptic message – “wish we could say more” – doesn’t reveal anything specific about what Apple may launch on September. But as per the leaked information so far, at least one model of the iPhone, likely to have a screen size of 4.7-inch, and a smartwatch is a certainty.
A much bigger iPhone with screen size of 5.5-inch, which will compete with phablets like the Galaxy Note 3, is also a possibility. Though on Thursday a Chinese website reported that it has been delayed.
The website, citing its sources that are part of the Apple supply chain in China, said that at the September 9 event only the iPhone with 4.7-inch screen and the iPhone 5S with 8GB internal storage would be unveiled.
Curiously, Apple is holding the iPhone event at Flint Centre in San Francisco, a venue where the company launched the iconic Mac decades ago. But in the last several years, Apple held media events in its Cupertino campus or at Yerba Buena Centre. Compared to these two venues, Flint Centre is much bigger, sparking speculations that this year’s iPhone event will be attended by more people and may turn out to be more significant.
