New Delhi, October 4-Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who made a surprise return to the company office as “technology advisor” several months ago, said he was very happy with CEO Satya Nadella. In an interview to Bloomberg TV, Gates, one of the most influential technologists in the world, said that Nadella brought a new energy to the company and was trying to fix things.

When Nadella succeeded Steve Ballmer in February, Gates took up the role of technology advisor to the CEO. He has been spending one-third of his time at Redmond, something which he has not done in years. In the interview he revealed that was working to make MS Office “dramatically better”.

“That’s the kind of thing that I’m trying to make sure they move fast on,” he said. Recently, the company showcased the Windows 10 Technical Preview and earlier in the year it launched a touch-first version of Office for the iPad, something which the company did not do under the leadership of Steve Ballmer.

Microsoft is yet to release a touch-first version of Office for its flagship OS — Windows. But it is on track to launch it next year. The company is also working on a new version of Windows for the Mac. In last few months, Microsoft has made moves to bolster its Office suite. It has offered a new OneNote app and yesterday it launched a new app called Sway.

In the interview, Gates praised Apple pay, a service that would allow iPhone users to pay for goods and services at select store using the phone. He believed that with Apple Pay, the wireless transactions business could achieve critical mass due to Apple’s highly popular ecosystem of hardware products.
