KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 – Rural and Regional Development Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal(Pic) said the existence of universities in the country should not be seen as competition but motivation to upgrade competency level. Public and private universities need to create a niche and establish symbiotic collaboration to ensure the sustainability of the country’s education.
“Higher education has developed rapidly with the establishment of seven foreign universities in the past decade.
“A co-existence strategy that is more profitable, rather than competitive, should be designed,” he said at ‘Malam ke Puncak Awan’ dinner function here tonight.
The ceremony was held to celebrate the Higher Education Ministry offer to upgrade KPTM Kuala Lumpur Campus to Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech Mara.
At the function, the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) also received the Certificate of Appreciation for Industry Partners Collaboration towards developing graduates and driving edcuation. The certificate was received by Bernama’s Deputy Editor-In-Chief (Domestic News Service), Datuk Zulkefli Salleh.
