Kuala Lumpur, December 11 – Looks like it is showdown time for MIC as supporters of MIC President Palanivel are organizing a grand reception for him at KLIA tomorrow when he arrives from overseas after his official ministerial duties.
SMS messages are being circulated by Palanivel’s supporters to gather at KLIA 1 at 2.30 pm tomorrow.
Palanivel returns amidst widespread calls from party’s rank and file demanding for his resignation, in view of the ROS decision to declare re-election for MIC.
Palanivel has already said that he would decide on the next course of action after returning from overseas. Although he has not publicly declared his stand on the ROS findings, he is expected to follow the order and hold fresh elections for the party’s 23 CWC and 3 Vice President positions.
Some of his supporters are said to be advising him not to accede to the order by ROS to hold fresh elections, thereby challenging the decision.
Some party sources said Palanivel is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak upon his return to discuss the party’s future directions.
Upon his return Palanivel may have to crack his head to make several important decisions, first and foremost being whether to accept decision by ROS.
The party is also in turmoil as several legal questions have been posed in consequence of the ROS decision.
Since the elections held last year have been declared null and void, all the decisions made by the CWC subsequent to 30th of November 2013 are also deemed to be null and void.
Party sources said that the party leaders are eagerly waiting for Palanivel’s response before deciding on their current confusion surrounding the party.
