KOTA BAHARU, January 21 – Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, 84, who is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM), Kubang Kerian, is reported to be in stable condition.
His son, Nik Mohamad Abduh said Nik Aziz was admitted to hospital after his health deteriorated during the recent floods.
He said the former Kelantan menteri besar who suffered from prostate cancer for so long reacted better to all the treatment given.
“My father managed to perform subuh prayers and had teh o for breakfast before resting.
“The CT scan was also normal, but doctors requested healthy family members to donate blood should the situation requires,” Nik Mohamad Abduh told reporters when met at the hospital Wednesday.
PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz was admitted to HUSM two days ago.
Nik Abduh said his father inquired about his health level during his stay in the ICU.
Nik Aziz suffered from prostate cancer for many years but continued treatment by doctors managed to control it.
The Member of Parliament for Pasir Mas said the visitors allowed to visit his father would be determined by the hospital and his family.
“Thanks to all Malaysians who pray for my father’s good health,” he added.
Last night, the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V visited Nik Aziz.
Nik Aziz, who became Kelantan Menteri Besar in 1990 handed over the post to his deputy, Datuk Ahmad Yakob after the 13th general election in 2013.
