Kuala Lumpur, March 16 – MIC Youth leaders C.Sivarraajh has defended the actions taken by party Deputy President Dato Seri Dr S.Subramaniam and his team to safeguard the party and the MIC headquarters building.
In a press statement released yesterday he said : “The MIC party belongs to the members and the leaders who have every right to come to the party headquarters. MIC deputy president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, vice president Datuk M. Saravanan, my self as the youth chief and Wanita MIC leader Mohana Muniandy as well as branch leaders and youth members have every right to come to the party headquarters”
“Therefore, it is irresponsible and unbecoming for Datuk S. Sothinathan, Datuk S. Balakrishnan and K. Ramalingam to criticise these leaders for coming to the headquarters and make false allegations that the staff were assaulted. They should not think that by being aligned with president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel, they have every right to run the party according to their whims and fancies” Sivarraajh further said.
The party belongs to every member of the party, be it branch, division, state or national leader and they have every right to interact with the staff in MIC, he pointed out.
“These leaders who are genuinely working for the benefit of community have every right to meet and discuss with the staff of the MIC headquarters. These people are MIC leaders who hold positions and not “enemies” of the party and if they are prevented, there must be some hidden agenda” alleged Sivarraajh.
Complaints of illegal branches
In his statement Sivarraajh also raised the issue of illegal branches being formed to beef up support for current President G.Palanivel.
“There has been complaints that illegal branches have either been formed or revived by the leadership under Palanivel. I am wondering whether the Palanivel’s group are preventing Dr. Subramaniam and other leaders into the MIC office as they were worried that their “underhand tactics” will come out in the public” he said.
“I would like to reiterate appointing Datuk SS Rajagopal as a coordinator to administer the office of MIC HQ was a decision of of the interim CWC decision and there was no thugs involved as claimed by certain quarters. The MIC youth movement comprises educated professionals who do not condone such activities”
Meanwhile Sivarraajh also pointed out that there is already a report lodged by a Puchong MIC division member that three defunct branches in the division had been revived without their knowledge as well as the party’s central working committee.
“Palanivel had already confirmed that he had accepted the Registrar of Societies (ROS) decision to appoint the interim 2009 CWC committee to administer the party elections and the nullification of the 2013 CWC. I don’t know how Sothinathan and his group are still claiming to have a meeting of the 2013 CWC when it is no longer in existence” Sivarraajh further commented.
