New Delhi, March 24 – Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor will be conferred the Dada Saheb Phalke award this year for his contribution to Indian cinema. The 77-year-old yesteryears’ star will be the 62nd recipient of the prestigious award.
Shashi Kapoor, whose oeuvre includes several hit and loved films, has been awarded with the National Award thrice, in 1979, 1986 and 1994. Apart from these, Kapoor has also received the Padma Bhushan in 2011.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest recognition in Indian cinema, comprises a Swarn Kamal (Golden Lotus), a shawl, and a cash prize of Rs.10,00,000. The award was conferred on eminent lyricist Gulzar last year.
