KUALA LUMPUR, March 5- A proposal for an emergency parliamentary session to discuss the issue of intrusion in Sabah is not relevant and unnecessary. Rembau Member of Parliament Khairy Jamaluddin(pic) said, this was because the session could cause the issue to be politicised and create dispute between the government and opposition.

“The opposition is not keen to seek a settlement but on the other hand, wants to prolong the probem for their political interests,” he said when met at a tahlil prayer for the warriors who were killed in Sabah, organised by Umno Youth at the Putra World Trade Centre here.

“Obama did not call Republicans to discuss military strategy before carrying out the operation to its successful conclusion,” he noted. During the ceremony, Kahiry also announced a RM10,000 contribution to the Lahad Datu Warriors Fund which is managed by Media Prima Berhad.

Earlier, Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim suggested that a special Parliament session be held to discuss the issue of security in Sabah. He said, he would submit an application to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the Speaker for the session to convene soon.

“We want to propose to the government to hold a special Parliament Session to discuss the issue of intrusion and get the actual picture of the incident in Sabah.

“It is very important to get a census among members of parliament and parties and stop the accusation among ourselves,” he told reporters at the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) headquarters here today. Meanwhile, in KOTA BAHARU, Kelantan Umno Youth lodged a report aginst PKR vice-president Tian Chua over his remarks on the intrusion in Lahad Datu. The report was made by its chief, Anuar Safian, at the Kubang Kerian police station at 3.30pm today.

He said Tian Chua’s remarks had tarnished Umno’s image and poisoned the thinking of the people to hate the government under Barisan Nasional, with the advent of the general election. In SHAH ALAM, five non-governmental organisations today lodged a police report, urging the authorities to investigate an opposition leader who was reported to have connection with the issue in Lahad Datu, as reported by the Philippine intelligence body and Reuters.
