March 7, 2013-Chennai Rhinos had played brilliantly in the first two seasons of Celebrity Cricket League and was crowned both times. The team came up with a lot of confidence and there was burden of expectations from audience to deliver the best to win for the third consecutive time.
But they were in shock in the ongoing season as the reigning champions played like a Kenyan cricket team of 1990s where the Tamil Nadu was sent home cheaply! It appeared like lady luck was not smiling on Chennai Rhinos from the day the event started as the team surprisingly lost the first match against Bhojpuri Dabanggs, which is the latest addition in the third season.
The over-confident Kollywood was beaten by the less-known team in the last over, thereby sending a warning signal that the game is turning professional and there was no room for easy cricket. However, the match against the arch-rivals Karnataka Bulldozers was abandoned due to rain.
The next match against Mumbai Heroes was disappointing with Chennai bowlers giving away too many runs and batsmen failing to chase the total. The silver line for the Chennai Rhinos in the whole series was the last match played against Bengal Tigers where both batsmen and bowlers came out in flying colours.
