Kuala Lumpur, June 15 – MIC Deputy President and Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam has called on party members to remain united in the wake of High Court decision today in favour of ROS.
In a press statement released immediately after the pronouncement of judgment Dr Subra also called on the leaders who initiated the court proceeding to take responsibility and accountability.
The following is the full text of his press statement released today:-
“I received with great relief the pronouncement by the High Court judge upholding the decisions of the Registrar of Society pertaining to the illegalities and fraudulent conduct in the MIC elections of 2013.I hope this will bring to an end, the political uncertainties which had besieged MIC for the past 1 ½ years.
The last 1 ½ years has been a period of complete inactivity and we had divided MIC. The time has come to move forward. The CWC of 2009 should conduct the MIC elections as soon as possible and restore the party to normality.
The complaints made by party members that there were fraudulent conduct in the MIC elections and that illegal branches were formed to prop up support were found to be true by investigations carried out by the Registrar of Societies. These were not ad-hoc decisions but done after thorough investigations, after perusing all the documents and investigating all the people involved.
To the complainants to the ROS, justice has been done. I have been consistent and vocal that these issues could have been resolved amicably through discussions, consultations and compromise but all such efforts fell on deaf ears.
I have continuously objected to the wisdom of taking this issue to court purely out of concern for the party and community. This unfortunately was not well received by the people concerned. I appeal to all parties to remain calm and composed. This is not a moment of jubilation or distraught. Calm and composure at such moment is the mark of sterling qualities of good statesmanship.
A vast majority of the 3700 branch chairman are innocent by-standers in this process. They are not parties to the mayhem which was inflicted upon them by leaders on whom they have bestowed their trust.
Let us unite the party with no division and factions. Let us re-energise our connectivity to the community. Let us regain our relevance which has seen erosion over the last few years. Let us put the past behind and work towards a bright future.

This is a MORAL question at stake; it is up to the respective individuals to decide”
