Sulu-Sultan-Jamalul-kiram-SliderLAHAD DATU, March 17 — Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said family members of Jamalul Kiram were among the 104 people being detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.

He said the incendiary family’s members were in the country under assumed names and used different identities in the Philippines.

At a joint media conference with Army Field Commander Lt Gen Datuk Seri Zulkiple Kassim at Felda Sahabat 16 here today, he said the security forces were not only targeting Kiram’s family members but also those of other terrorists involved in the armed intrusion into Sabah on Feb 12.

“We are also investigating others who have links with the terrorists,” he said without elaborating on when the suspects would be brought to court for prosecution.

On the death of a suspect detained under the Act at Semporna hospital yesterday, he said the individual passed away due to an illness and did not commit suicide as claimed by certain quarters.

Hamza said 232 others had also been detained for various offences but the situation in Sabah including in Semporna and Lahad Datu was under control, except at the Tanjung Labian security cluster where security forces were in the midst of flushing out the remaining terrorists.
