SHAH ALAM, April 11- The Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident of capturing 20 more Parliamentary seats in the 13th general election (GE13) from the 140 seats it won in the 2008 general election. BN information chief, Datuk Ahmad Maslan said this would enable the BN to achieve a two-third majority win.
“We are targeting to win five seats from PAS, five from the DAP, and 10 from PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat)…we will go all out to capture their seats one by one,” he told reporters after the briefing on the BN manifesto at the Selangor state level at the Selangor Umno building, here.
He said that among the Parliamentary seats the BN could recapture were Sibu in Sabah, Balik Pulau (Penang) and Padang Terap, Kedah. Based on our observation and the hard work put in by the BN machinery, “I am confident during the general election this time, the BN can regain at least 20 Parliamentary seats,” he said.
“I am confident the BN can recapture these seats because in the 2004 general election, we had won (all these seats). But, probably because of several problems within the party, we lost (them) in the last general election (2008),” he said.
Ahmad said that in the general election this time, the BN would also field the best candidate in every Parliamentary and state seat to win over the hearts of the voters in the general election. Commenting on the strategy of the Opposition Pact in fielding artistes in the Parliamentary and state constituencies to fish for votes, Ahmad, who was the Member of Parliament for Pontian, said the BN had never felt threatened by this.
