KUALA LUMPUR: An MIC veteran leader today urged all Indians to vote without fear, even if they are voting for Pakatan Rakyat, as changes are needed for the community.
VL Kandan (pic), a former two-term Sungai Way’s state assemblyman, said that changes were needed to transform the community.
“The Indian community wants a change and they must think before voting for a candidate if he or she can actually fulfil the community’s needs.”
“Hindraf leader P Waythamoorthy’s move to Barisan Nasional will not swing any Indian votes as Indians have already made up their minds. Furthermore, he has also lost his credibility as his move seems to be very much pre-planned,” Kandan told a press conference today.
“While I still personally believe that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is genuinely fighting for the rights of the Indians, BN’s vehicle however is not strong enough to garner Indian votes.”
Having Perkasa leader Zulkifli Nordin as a candidate and discretely supporting Ibrahim Ali, the Perkasa’s chief, is distancing BN from the Indian community, Kandan said.
