agongALOR SETAR, June 3 – Kedah Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth has called on the opposition to state its stand on the action by an individual believed to  have made insulting remarks against Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah through her Facebook account.

Its deputy chief Haris Che Mat said the opposition had so far kept mum on this issue although the person’s action had hurt the feelings of the general public in this country.

Kedah BN Youth also urged the police to investigate and take appropriate action against the offending individual, he said after lodging a report on the matter at the Kota Setar district police headquarters, here, today.

State Gerakan Youth head Tan Keng Liang, who was present, questioned the opposition’s attitude of clearly practising double standards as it was only vocal over certain issues and not this.

“This is another scenario which the people should closely watch as it reflects what the opposition can do in future,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kedah MCA Youth deputy chief Tan Chee Hiong said condemning and  making insulting remarks against a ruler was not part of Malaysian culture.

In her Facebook account, the individual who named herself as Melissa  Gooi made a statement that ridiculed the speech made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in conjunction with his majesty’s birthday on June 1.
