JAIPUR (Rajasthan) June 23- Six hill forts in north Indian state of Rajasthan have been included in United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)’s World Heritage List, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
The forts are Amber, Chittorgarh, Gangron, Jaisalmer, Kumbhalgarh and Ranthambore.
“With their selection, the six forts will receive enhanced international recognition; this selection will also pave way for other monuments to be nominated in the World Heritage List,” she said.
Selection of the forts was made during the 37th Meeting of the World Heritage Committee in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Friday.
Built between 18th and 19th centuries, the forts portray an excellent example of Rajput military hill architecture found in palaces, temples, memorials and villages.
