KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 – Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar has yet to decide whether to defend the post or not in the party election in September.
“I don’t know whether there is a candidate for the Umno Youth top post and I don’t know whether I want to contest or not,” he told reporters after breaking of fast at Masjid Ash-Syakirin in KLCC here, Tuesday night.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib announced that the election of top posts for Umno Youth, Wanita Umno and Puteri Umno will be held on Sept 28.
Election for the Umno Supreme Council (MT) posts will be held simultaneously with the delegates meeting on October 5.
Khairy who is also Youth and Sports Minister said Umno Youth welcome anyone to contest for posts but it must be done in the spirit of unity.
“We contest as siblings. No need for dirty tactics and personal attacks. The candidates must bear in mind that the contest is held to strengthen the party.”
