KOTA KINABALU, Aug 13- Several Sabah Umno leaders have expressed support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, who is Sabah Umno liaison committee chairman, to contest for the party’s vice-president post at this year’s party election.
They opined that Musa was the apt choice, considering his track record in Umno and in the government, to fill one of the three Umno vice-president posts.
Those who expressed their support for Musa to contest for the Umno vice-president post included Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin and Sipitang Umno division leader Datuk Sapawi Ahmad.
Yahya said he had suggested to Musa to contest the post at the last party election, but the chief minister only went for the supreme council post.
“Actually, I had suggested that he went for the post five years ago, but he (Musa) was firm to not want to contest then.
“But this time, if he decides to go for the post, I’ll give him my full support,” said Yahya, who is also Putatan Umno division leader, when contacted yesterday.
Meanwhile, Sapawi, who is Sipitang Member of Parliament, said he would support Musa for the party’s vice-president post because of his track record in leading the state Umno and also the state government.
