IPOH, Aug 15- Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir Wednesday said that state DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham’s statement on his Twitter page on the rejection of the election petitions by the Election Court was seditious and dangerous.

Ngeh had recently tweeted, “Courts the place to hear election grievances, if they refuse to hear they are sending a message to aggrieved parties to go to the streets.”

zambryZambry also described the statement as irresponsible and which gave no thought to the process of justice and democracy.

“The court’s decisions (rejection) were not only made on the election petitions filed by them (opposition), as the ones made by the Barisan Nasional were also rejected,” he said after chairing the state executive council’s weekly meeting, here.

“I regard such a statement as seditious. It is also a very dangerous statement as it could threaten peace,” he said, adding that Ngeh should be responsible for his statement. Zambry said what was more important now was for all quarters to work at developing the state.

“We need to move forward in administering the state as best as possible so that it continues to develop and progress.

“Hence, I don’t want the (election petition) issue to continue as a political game as it could affect stability in the state,” he added.

The Election Court had rejected several election petitions including those filed by the opposition involving the state seats of Manong, Pasir Panjang, Manjoi, Lubuk Merbau, Rungkup and Selama in Perak after it failed to follow the Election Petition Rules 1954.
