Agong Ends Visit To Thailand, Leaves For Vietnam

BANGKOK, Sept 5 – The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah on Thursday ended their three-day state visit to Thailand and left for Vietnam.

Tuanku-Abdul-Halim-Muadzam-Shah-and-Raja-Permaisuri-Agong-Tuanku-Hajah-HaminahAccompanied by minister in attendance Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, who is also minister in the prime minister’s department, Their Majesties boarded an aircraft at the Don Muang Thai Royal Air Force Base for Vietnam at 9am local time.

Earlier, Their Majesties were received by Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at the air force base at 8.40am.

Tuanku Abdul Halim and the crown prince later proceeded to a dais for a send off ceremony where national anthems of both countries were played.

The crown prince and Princess Sirindhorn accompanied Tuanku Abdul Halim and Tuanku Hajah Haminah to an aircraft for departure.

Tuanku Abdul Halim’s visit to Thailand is the third to an Asean country, after having visited Indonesia and Brunei last year, following his installation as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the second time on April 11 last year.

During the visit, Their Majesties granted an audience to Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong was bestowed with ‘The Knight of the Most Illustrious Order of the Royal House of Chakri’ while and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, ‘The Most Illustrious Order of Chula Chom Klao’.

Their Majesties received the awards from the crown prince at a ceremony at the Klai Kangwon Palace, Hua Hin.
