SEPT 11- Coming down heavily on the Congress led UPA government for rampant corruption and irresponsible governance Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s election campaign chief Narendra Modi took on prime minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Congress that is more concerned about saving its own prestige rather than saving the image of the country or value of the Rupee is misfit to rule the nation, he maintained.
Modi said that with its long list of scams Congress had given new terminology to alphabets: A for Adarsh scam, B for Bofors, C for Coalgate and CWG and D for damaad; the last being in an obvious reference to the land scam of Robert Vadra, son in law of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. “Bhrashtachar Congress ka gahana ho gaya hai (Corruption has become Congress’s jewellery and ornament)”, he said and urged the people to rid the country of that party.
With his 45 minutes long speech at a crowded rally Modi kick-started the BJP’s election campaign in Rajasthan in the presence of party president Rajnath Singh. The Suraj Sankalp Rally – was organised to officially conclude 78 day long state wide road show of state BJP president and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje.
Taking a jibe at the Prime Minister, Modi said that nobody in the country knew what Manmohan Singh said or did for the national interest at the just concluded G-20 summit but immediately after the summit he (prime minister) took the name of his new boss (Rajiv Gandhi) under whom he was prepared to work in future.
There was a marked difference between the Congress before the independence of the country and after. “Before independence Congress practiced ‘deshbhakti’ (patriotism) but after independence the party practiced ‘bhakti’ (devotion) towards one family”, Modi said.
Taking a dig at UPA government Modi said that it had neither neta (leader) nor naitikta (morality) nor niti (policies) nor neeyat (intention). The country couldn’t be left in their hands, he asserted. He urged the youth who have attained the age of 18 to enroll themselves in the electoral roll which was a guarantee for saving the country from the Congress. Like several other occasions in life, like birth and marriage, which are celebrated one’s enrolment in voters’ list should also be celebrated, he added. He asked the party workers to work towards it.
Referring to the recent letter of Gujarat’s jailed DIG DG Vanzara BJP president Rajnath Singh apprehended that more attempt to defame Modi could be made intensively and urged the workers to be ready for a fight against it on the streets.
Raje joined by Modi and Singh criticised Ashok Gehlot government for its omissions and commissions and promised a better rule in the state.
