Ipoh, Oct 10 — Nine contenders for the Umno division chief posts in Perak won uncontested, according to the list issued by the State Umno Liaison Committee today.
They emerged victors as there were no other nominations for the posts or their contenders failed the screening conducted by party headquarters.
Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz (pic) retained the Padang Rengas Umno division chief post when one of the candidates withdrew his nomination while another was declared unqualified.
Six other candidates, who won uncontested as there were no other contestants, were Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah (Tambun), Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (Bagan Datoh), Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Datuk Saarani Mohamad (Lenggong), Datuk Shamsuddin Abdul Ghaffar (Ipoh Barat) and Datuk Mohd Zaim Abu Hasan (Parit).
Two others who won uncontested were Datuk Sham Mat Sahat (Bagan Serai) and Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin (Teluk Intan).
