“Talent is like a seed. A seed that will grow and bloom to provide benefits to those around them when cultivated on fertile land and given good care.

“As such, the talent inherent in each child must be identified as soon as possible. Talent that is nurtured with interest will become a strong combination so that the dream towards achieving excellence can be fulfilled,” she said.

She said this when launcing the solo album ‘Impianku’ and the biography ‘Prabu the Little MGR’, a 10-year-old child named S. Prabu, organised by the Malaysian Intellectual Development Organisation, here Friday.

Rosmah said that exposure to music could bring much benefits in developing the mind of children including improving their ability to learn languages, hearing capacity, power of memory and style of thinking besides boosting their academic performance.

“Studies also revealed that the IQ of children who are exposed to weekly training for nine months in music will increase by three points compared to their other friends,” she said.

She said that young artistes must be given motivation so that they will not easily be deterred or frightened in facing challenges after foresaking their normal childhood to achieve their dreams.

Rosmah also praised the talent and capability possessed by Prabu, the youngest Indian artiste who succeeded in producing a solo album containing Malay songs, as awarded by The Malaysia Book of Records.

Prabu began to highlight his talent and capability since the age of four and had appeared in 470 shows within and outside the country.

Also present were the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim, wife of former MIC president, Datin Seri Indrani Samy Vellu, wife of the Perak State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datin Seri Saras SK Devamany, and founder and managing director of Malaysia Book of Records Datuk Danny Ooi.
