Kuala Lumpur, March 15- AmIslamic Bank Bhd on Friday distributed business tithe (zakat) totalling RM586,000 to 11 organisations and charity homes to help them cope with the financial expenses for their daily chores.
The contribution is part of the bank’s RM1.73 million set aside for busness tithe distribution under the 2013 financial year.
The cash contribution was handed over by AmBank Group chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim to officials of the selected organisations and charity homes from the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
Among the recipients were Yayasan Pelajaran Mara, Rumah Titian Kasih, Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia, Raudhatus Sakinah Bhd and Persatuan Mubaligh Islam Negeri Sembilan.
“Besides our responsibility as Muslims to pay business tithe, this contribution is also part of our continuous programme to play a strong role in our corporate social responsibility to the society with whom we work with,” Azman said.
AmIslamic Bank is a wholly Islamic banking subsidiary of AmBank Group and is the fifth largest Islamic banking group in Malaysia (in terms of assets as at September 2013).
