Bangkok, May 24 – Thai soldiers stand guard as a pro-democracy activist holding an placard lies on the street during a demonstration yesterday against the army coup in front of the Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC) in center of Bangkok, Thailand.
Thailand’s ruling junta on 23 May barred 155 politicians, protest leaders and activists from leaving the country and summoned them to appear in Bangkok, citing efforts to ‘restore peace and security.’
The move came a day after the military declared a coup when its effort to bring rival factions together to hash out a solution to the country’s political impasse ended in failure.
