KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 – MCA vice-president Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun was on Thursday sworn in as senator for a second term before Dewan Negara President Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that Chew will be joining the Cabinet along with some leaders from MCA and Gerakan, as the Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister.
Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Chew said was grateful to the prime minister on the trust he had placed on her.
“I believe this is the platform for me to continue to contribute to national development and ensure ethnic harmony in a more effective manner,” she said.
