KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 – The 1 Million Women Purple Walk which was postponed following the intrusion in Lahad Datu and other districts in Sabah, will be held this Sunday. Women, Family and Community Development Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur(Pic) said the event, organised jointly with the Finance Ministry, will be held simultaneously nationwide at 8am.
She said the programme will assemble one million women to show women’s solidarity in support of government efforts to empower women in Malaysia. Noorul said the two-day 1 Million Women Purple Walk Carnival will also enliven the programme starting Saturday.
“The exhibitions and sales will give entrepreneurs, especially women, petty traders, single mothers’ associations and the disabled a chance to display and sell their products and services at low prices,” she said.
Several government agencies will also join to provide the public guidance and opportunities, especially on business development, she added.
