Vishal has done justice to his character as a cop and has delivered right emotions as brother and son of a close-knit family. Kajal, first time pairing with Vishal is attractive but fails to give impressive performace.
Samuthrikani has essayed easily in the role given as a caring brother and as the man who is ambitious about his political career. His voice and dialogue delivery makes a difference and attracts viewers.
The plot starts with a prominent businessman dead under a bridge and a failed attempt to nab a gang of villains who are terrorizing the elite businessmen of the city with their ransom calls. To prove a point the gang takes down a inspector at traffic signal who was involved in the failed attempt. Then enters the hero Vishal as Asst Commissioner of Police who is assigned on special operations to take down on city’s menacing dons.
The heroine’s father is killed by the same group and the hero’s family in the process gets pulled into the intriguing plot.
D.Imman’s music is good but not it is not a chart buster. A song involving Nikita Thurkal is not bearable either for the eyes or ears. The background music is good especially for the last 45 minutes.
Paayum Puli is not as fierce as one would expect by looking at the gigantic posters.
